To whom this concerns,
Please accept this letter of application for the Membership Coordinator at the Burlington, YMCA. I will be graduating from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown in April 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication.
I became interested in communication my sophomore year. When I researched the YMCA, I was thrilled to see that your mission statement is to build a healthy mind, body, and sprit with the principles of Christianity. After graduation I have intentions to relocate to the North Carolina area.
The YMCA expectations for employees are to be successful in relationships with students, parents, other staff and volunteers. With my experience at the American Red Cross, I have gained knowledge and skills to communicate with children and staff. Teaching disaster relief programs to children allowed me to be energetic with children and young adults. With these programs I took archaic materials and converted them into exciting and relevant presentations. Also, I gained the ability to change my tone of voice with each audience to reflect the understanding of the different age groups and maturity levels. I now have the knowledge to inform people of all ages of what to do in natural disasters and I am certified in CPR. In December I was recognized with an award for the Southwestern Pennsylvania Volunteer Spotlight of the Month. Working at Giant Eagle Market District, I learned how to be a team player and use my communication skills and the ability to serve others willingly in the Gourmet Department and in the Beverage Bar. As an employee I received training in “Unparalleled Customer Service”. I have a strong work ethic and I have been employed there for over five years.
Within the last four years, I have participated in community service both in the Johnstown and Pittsburgh. In Johnstown I helped bag candy for the local police, participated in a Santa breakfast for jumpstart children, walked in the Light the Night walk to support Leukemia and Lymphoma, and participated with the American Red Cross Vampire 5K walk. I also was actively involved in planning Thinking Day for the Girl Scout Council. In Pittsburgh I participated in a Junior Achievement Bow A-thon, walk for Juvenile Diabetes Research, and participated in the Healthy Community Walk held by Blue Cross Blue Shield.
With all of my experience I have much to offer to your organization. Enclosed is a resume that gives further details about my history and education. I am eager for the opportunity to discuss my qualification in greater detail. I am available for an interview at your convenience. My email is amyblanc00@yahoo.com and my phone number is
